What is Liliputas?
A world-renowned Lithuanian semi-hard cheese produced exclusively in the village of Belvederis. Distinguished by its tiny size — each wheel weighs only 100–300 g — it is one of the smallest cheese wheels in the world. Made from pasteurised cow’s milk and aged for 45–90 days.
Taste, aroma, and texture
Smooth, elastic, and remarkably homogeneous, with a supple semi-hard body and very small, evenly distributed holes. The interior is pale yellow. It may have a natural or waxed rind. The miniature wheel size, 100–300 g, is its most distinctive feature.
Lactic notes are strongly dominant — fresh, clean, and milky. Fruity and earthy notes are equally faint, while animal and herbal notes are barely perceptible. No smoky character. A clean and approachable profile.

Production began in 1958 at the Belvederis Cheese Factory, Lithuania’s oldest dairy school and factory. The small size was a practical innovation, allowing faster ageing and more even ripening throughout the wheel. The cheese gained international recognition for its unusual size and refined character. It has held PGI status since 2015.
Storage and serving
